SRINAGAR: The security forces on Sunday gunned down four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in an encounter in Sarigam forests of Kupwara district, while 15 civilians and two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were injured in a grenade attack at Bijbehara chowk in Anantnag district.
According to a defence spokesperson, the LeT men were killed when they were trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter, which began on Saturday night ended early on Sunday.
In another incident, militants hurled a grenade towards an Army convoy at Bijbehara chowk. The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road, resulting in injuries to 15 civilians.
Two ITBP men were also hurt. The injured were rushed to the hospital, the police said.
